Spotting Mildew on Your Sofa

Mildew shows up as thin, dark patches on fabric or leather. It often appears where the couch leans against a wall, under a blanket, or in a pet‑friendly corner that stays moist. If you notice a sour smell or see tiny white spores, that’s a clear sign. Check the seams, cushions, and the underside of the legs – those hidden spots are prime mildew real estate.

DIY Removal Methods

To prevent future outbreaks, keep humidity below 60 % in your living room. Use a dehumidifier during rainy seasons, and avoid leaving wet blankets or pet bedding on the couch. Regularly vacuum the upholstery and give the sofa a quick wipe with a vinegar‑water spray every month.
